A sign must be well balanced and sturdy, a firmly defined and attractive arrangement of coloured shapes. Yet they still need to be visually interesting and appealing to local residents. May also contain a few markings such as an owner’s name, short gifter’s inscription or light stamp. A copy that may have a few cosmetic defects. The modern-day sign must attract people who have little time to read the message they contain or who are, perhaps, just passing in their cars.
